“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8
The mind is a terrible thing. It can travel to the glories of heaven and plummet to the goriness of hell simultaneously. The bandwidth is far too vast to allow my thoughts to wonder. I have an obligation to bring every thought into captivity and deliver them to Christ. To do so, I must govern the criteria of my mind’s perimeters. The Spirit has laid out a guard rail system for my thoughts. Things that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and of good report; virtuous, and praise worthy. To think on these things is such a beautiful field of thought. As I invest the time to judge my thoughts, I find it easier to eliminate the ugly and think upon what is right.
My prayer today:
Oh Father, a war is raging in my thoughts! Help me raise up scriptural boundaries for my thoughts. Deliver me from wicked imaginations and keep my mind through Christ Jesus.
